Features

How does the Gmail integration work?

Connect your Gmail account and NexApply automatically scans your inbox for job-related emails, matches them to your tracked applications, and suggests status updates — so you never miss a recruiter response.

What AI features are included?

NexApply includes AI-powered cover letter generation, résumé bullet rewriting, follow-up email drafting, LinkedIn connection notes, and smart application insights — all tailored to the specific job you're applying for.

Does NexApply work without Gmail?

Yes. Gmail integration is entirely optional — NexApply works as a standalone job application tracker without it. If you do connect Gmail, NexApply scans your inbox for recruiter emails and automatically suggests status updates for your tracked applications.

How do I import a job posting?

Paste any job URL into NexApply and it automatically parses the company, role, location, salary range, and full description for you. The browser extension goes even further — save a posting from LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, or any other site with a single click without leaving the tab.

What is the Kanban board?

The Kanban board is a visual pipeline that shows all your applications grouped by stage: Saved, Applied, Phone Screen, Interview, Offer, Rejected, and Accepted. Drag a card to a new column to update its status instantly. You can also switch to a table view if you prefer working in rows.

Can I track contacts and recruiters?

Yes. NexApply has a full contacts directory where you can log every recruiter, hiring manager, and referral — linked to the applications they're associated with. Add call notes, email addresses, LinkedIn profiles, and reminders so you always know who you spoke with and what they said.

Can NexApply write cover letters for me?

Yes. Give the AI a short blurb about your background and it drafts a tailored cover letter grounded in the actual job description — not a generic template. The same tool generates follow-up emails after applying, thank-you notes after interviews, and LinkedIn connection requests.

What is the best free job application tracker?

NexApply is a strong choice for a free job application tracker. It gives you a Kanban pipeline, basic analytics, and up to 20 new applications per month at no cost — no credit card required. Upgrade to Pro for unlimited applications, AI writing tools, and Gmail integration.

How do I track job applications for free?

Sign up for NexApply — no credit card required. Add each application by pasting a job URL (NexApply auto-fills the company, title, and description), or grab the browser extension to save postings in one click. The free plan lets you add up to 20 new applications per month and track them in a Kanban pipeline or table view.

What should I track when applying for jobs?

For each application you should track the company name, job title, application date, current status (Saved, Applied, Interview, Offer), salary range, any follow-up dates, and contacts at the company. NexApply has dedicated fields for all of these, plus a notes section and document storage for your résumé and cover letter.

Does NexApply have a browser extension?

Yes. The NexApply browser extension lets you save job postings from LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and most other job boards with one click — automatically pulling the title, company, and description without any copy-pasting.

Can I get email reminders for follow-ups?

Yes (Pro feature). Set a follow-up date on any application and NexApply will send you an email reminder before you go quiet. You also get a daily digest summarising every open application and its current stage.

What analytics does NexApply provide?

The free analytics dashboard shows your application volume over time, response rate, and stage breakdown. Pro adds advanced charts — average time-to-interview, salary distribution across your pipeline, and an AI-written plain-English summary of how your search is going and where to focus next.

How does NexApply compare to a spreadsheet for tracking job applications?

A spreadsheet tracks data but can't act on it. NexApply adds a visual Kanban pipeline, automatic job import from any URL, AI-written cover letters and follow-up emails, Gmail inbox scanning, and email reminders — all with no manual setup. You spend less time maintaining your tracker and more time applying and preparing.

Can I use NexApply on my phone or mobile device?

Yes. NexApply is a responsive web app that works in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, and desktop — no separate app to install. The full dashboard, Kanban board, and AI writing tools are all accessible from your phone.

Does NexApply integrate with LinkedIn?

Yes, indirectly. The NexApply browser extension lets you save jobs from LinkedIn in one click, automatically pulling the title, company, and description. The AI writing tools can also draft LinkedIn connection request messages to hiring managers and recruiters you find during your search.

Can I save jobs from Indeed, Glassdoor, or company career pages?

Yes. The NexApply browser extension works on Indeed, Glassdoor, LinkedIn, Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, and most company career pages — save any posting with a single click without leaving the tab. You can also paste any job URL directly into NexApply and it auto-fills the title, company, location, and description for you.

How do I know if a recruiter responded to my job application?

Connect your Gmail account (optional) and NexApply automatically scans your inbox for recruiter and hiring-manager emails, matches them to your tracked applications, and suggests status updates — so you never miss a reply. Without Gmail you can manually update each application's stage and set a follow-up reminder date to prompt yourself to check in.

Does NexApply work with Workday, Greenhouse, or other ATS portals?

Yes. The NexApply browser extension captures job details from Workday, Greenhouse, Lever, iCIMS, and most other applicant-tracking-system career portals. Click the extension on any job posting page and NexApply saves the title, company, and description automatically — no copy-pasting needed.

How do I organize my job search effectively?

The key is logging every application the moment you apply — before details blur together. NexApply's Kanban board groups applications by stage (Saved, Applied, Phone Screen, Interview, Offer) so the full picture is always one glance away. Add the recruiter's contact, set a follow-up reminder date, and attach your cover letter. That structure alone puts you ahead of candidates tracking everything in memory or a messy spreadsheet.

Does NexApply have a resume builder?

Yes. NexApply includes a resume builder where you can store and manage your résumés. The Pro AI writing tools can also rewrite individual résumé bullets to be stronger and more tailored to a specific job description — useful when you're customising your résumé for different roles or industries.

How many job applications can I track with NexApply?

The free plan lets you add up to 20 new job applications per month — more than enough for an active search. Pro removes that limit so you can track unlimited applications. Either way, there is no cap on how many total applications you can view, manage, or update at any one time.

How long does it take to set up NexApply?

Under two minutes. Sign up with your email or Google account — no credit card required — and you can add your first job application immediately. Install the browser extension and saving jobs from LinkedIn or any job board takes a single click from that point on.

Can I use NexApply as a recent college graduate or entry-level job seeker?

Absolutely — NexApply is ideal for new graduates managing a first job search. The free plan covers up to 20 new applications per month, which is more than enough for an active entry-level search. College students with a .edu email also qualify for the Student Pro plan at $6.99/month, including a 3-day free trial.

Can I track internship applications with NexApply?

Yes. NexApply works equally well for internship searches. Add each internship application the same way you would a full-time role — paste the posting URL and NexApply fills in the company, title, and description automatically. The Kanban board, follow-up reminders, AI cover letter writer, and contact tracker all apply to internship applications just as they do to full-time roles.

What browsers does NexApply support?

NexApply works in any modern browser — Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Microsoft Edge — on both desktop and mobile. No installation is required to use the web app. The 'Save Job' browser extension for one-click job saving is available for Chrome and other Chromium-based browsers such as Edge and Brave.

Can I use NexApply as a career changer?

Absolutely. NexApply is ideal for career changers applying across multiple industries or roles at once. The Kanban board keeps every application organized by stage regardless of field, the AI cover letter writer tailors each draft to a new industry's tone and vocabulary, and the analytics dashboard shows which types of roles are advancing — useful data when you're exploring where you fit best.

Can I use NexApply to track freelance or contract work?

Yes. NexApply tracks any type of opportunity — full-time roles, part-time positions, freelance contracts, consulting engagements, and internships. Use the notes field to record contract terms, rates, and project scope alongside the standard application fields. The Kanban pipeline stages map just as well to freelance pitches as they do to traditional job applications.

What makes NexApply different from other job application trackers?

NexApply combines job tracking with AI writing tools in a single free product. Most trackers are passive spreadsheets; NexApply actively helps you draft cover letters and follow-up emails tailored to each specific job description, scans your Gmail inbox for recruiter replies, and surfaces analytics about which types of roles are advancing in your pipeline. It runs entirely in your browser — no desktop app, no extension required to get started — and works without a Gmail connection.
